Background
Andrew Jonathan Heart was born in Washington. At the age of 16 Heart lost his father and mother in the battle of Worf
259. When Commander William T. Riker of USS Enterprise turned down the command of USS Melbourne NCC 62043, command was passed
to Andrews father, Admiral Richard Heart. His mother, Katie Heart was the chief medical officer onboard. Has Starfleet history
records the USS Melbourne was destroyed and so where her crew.
When the news of the Loss of the Melbourne reached Starfleet command Admiral Alicia Rainer, the head of Starfleet intelligence
took it upon herself to take care of Andrew. She became his foster son.
Andrew started his career as an ensign assigned to the Utopia shipyards helping with the design and construction of the
Akira class Starships. He was later assigned to one of these vessels, USS Spector. This vessel was part of the invasion fleet
that retook Deep Space Nine and recaptured USS Prometheus from the Romulan star empire. Heart was a security officer aboard
this ship for two years. His tactical abilities came to light when during a raid on an dominion held outpost, the Spector
came under attack from a cardassian vessel, the tactical officer was killed in the attack, Heart thinking back was able to
use the Picard Manoeuvre to save the ship from its attackers.
He was later transferred to Starfleet command to be part of Starfleet’s tactical divisions. During his time
at tactical the team of three he was assigned to was asked to check out the tactical systems aboard a new starship USS Terra.
While Heart performing a maintenance check a malfunction in the tactical system caused two photon torpedoes to fire across
the shipyard destroying a newly build starship and killing a team of 22 engineering officers. Starfleet security did prove
beyond any doubt that Andrew was not to blame for what happened and he remained at tactical. However after serving at Utopia
shipyards heart knew all 22 officers by name.
Special
Being Part of Both Starfleet tactical and utopia Plantia. Heart knows his way round any Akira class security and tactical
system by using old fleet codes that are never deleted when the ship leaves the dock.
